With breathtaking panoramic views of the CBD, Southbank and the hinterlands, it was the perfect accompaniment to the fantastic speakers who came together at Convergence 2.0.
Brought to you by the Brisbane West Chamber of Commerce, Just Dream and Corporate Traveller, Convergence is THE social and business networking event to attend. It features some of Brisbane’s most highly regarded business leaders who come together to discuss business trends, share ideas and build new connections with like-minded individuals. Hosted at arguably one of Australia’s trendiest workspaces, Flight Centre’s global headquarter was the perfect choice for such an occasion.
At Convergence 2.0 we were introduced to two panels. The first of which was hosted by Roop Bhadury and featured entrepreneur of the year, Aaron Birkby, advance tech thought leader, Joel De Ross and author and thought leader, Dr. Emily Verstege. These great minds came together to discuss how we can drive high performance in an era of exponential change which proved to be an extremely thought provoking session.
The second panel was based on Flight Centre Australia and featured their very own Founder and CEO, Graham ‘Skroo’ Turner. This panel was hosted by Melbourne Business School’s Alex Christou and introduced us to Andrew Flannery, Flight Centre’s Executive General Manager as well as Jess Anscombe, General Manager.
In this forum, we learnt about how Flight Centre came to be and where they might be heading. From its formation with their very first double decker bus to where they are today; in a brand new $600 million dollar development with a jaw-dropping $25 million 15-storey fit out in one of Brisbane’s most iconic location. We were also humored by Skroo’s adventures during flight Centre’s formative years which really painted a picture of what the travel industry was like back in the 1980’s.
Besides fantastic views and insightful conversations, we also celebrated the achievements, trials and victories of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation; a foundation that has created a legacy of safety for all Australian Children. Special guest MC Kay McGrath, was also on hand to officially launch the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s international charity drive on the night.
We’d like to thank Flight Centre Australia, the Brisbane West Chamber of Commerce, Just Dream and David Burkett for putting on a wonderful event.
