Brisbane Japanese Festival

The first Brisbane Japanese Festival was held at West Village, West End, on 19th August 2017 sunny Saturday.

Tieing in with Japanese Week, the festival celebrated Japanese culture in a fun and interactive way with traditional food and beverage, and a modern pop culture performances and demonstrations throughout the day. Patrons were entertained with ikebana flower demonstrations, kimono and calligraphy displays, best kimono competition.

The festival kicked off with the Japanese ceremony involving the ceremonial preparation and preparation of matcha, powdered green tea. Children and parents were kept busy with origami workshops. Food stalls ranged from favourites like Japanese souffle pancakes, dumpling gyoza, okonomiyaki and ramen burgers!!

The festival would not be complete with cherry blossoms.
